Meet the Sacramento Area Speech Language Pathologists

Lauren Winters is a Sacramento native with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Communication Sciences and Disorders from California State University, Sacramento. She began her career working with elementary-aged students, then went on to design and direct a Preschool Intervention Program, specializing in communication support for children ages 3 to 5.

After years in public education, Lauren shifted to early intervention to focus on what matters most... supporting families without the constraints of bureaucracy. She brings expertise in prelinguistic communication, sensory regulation, complex developmental needs, and augmentative alternative communication (AAC).

Her approach is play-based, neurodiversity-affirming, and rooted in the belief that regulation and connection must come before communication. She partners with families to create realistic, individualized strategies that work in real life.

When she’s not in session, Lauren can be found in the garden, building something with her hands, or wrangling her beloved flock of chickens. A lifelong maker and visual artist, she brings that same creative energy and problem-solving mindset to her work with children and families.

Christina was born in Aqtau, Kazakhstan. She spent 2 1/2 years in an orphanage with limited material resources, affection, and compassion. Her life changed when a Pleasant Hill local adopted her and changed her fate by opening numerous doors of opportunity. Christina was enrolled in early intervention services that included speech therapy as she was nonverbal until the age of 3. After 7 years of speech therapy, Christina found her words and learned how to effectively communicate her wants, needs, thoughts, and emotions with the world around her. It’s her turn to give back.

She has an affinity for working with children of all ages, so it only made sense for her to specialize in pediatrics. Her primary experiences consist of working with children who are considered ‘late talkers’, children with diagnoses of Autism, Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), articulation and phonological impairments, and/or Down syndrome.

She is deeply committed to helping individuals find their voice, enhance communication, and improve overall quality of life.

Outside of her professional work, Apryl enjoys spending time with her husband and four children, and loves to travel whenever she gets the chance.
